Atlanta Special FX Makes It Snow On Extreme Makeover Christmas Special 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Atlanta Special FX Makes It Snow On ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition Christmas Special

PENSACOLA, Florida (October 24, 2010)-Atlanta Special FX, an atmospheric special effects company based out of North Atlanta, made it snow for the Gaston Family, Mariah Carey, and the cast of ABC’s hit show Extreme Makeover Home Edition. In the first ever Christmas Special the excited family was welcomed home to a snowy white Christmas setting.

On Sunday the weather was partly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain but that didn’t frighten the determined volunteers, contractors and the crews involved with building the new home for the Gaston Family. All week rumors floated and excitement built around a possible appearance by Mariah Carey and the chance for a snow covered reveal.

Later that afternoon following the parade festivities, the family arrived and Ty Pennington revealed their new home. Once the Gastons were inside, the crew of Atlanta Special FX along with 30 wonderful volunteers was given 1 hour to transform this 85 degree, stormy day into a cool winter wonderland. They battled rain, lighting, and high winds to pull off the biggest surprise of the entire show. And the best part was the family had no idea. During the fast paced hour Atlanta Special FX installed over 5000 square feet of fake snow ground cover, hung fake icicles from the eves, covered the shrubs, the sleigh, gifts, flowers and frosted walkways with evaporating snow ground cover. In addition 4 snow machines were installed which produce an eco friendly evaporating snow and soon after falling snow was everywhere. As the excited family exited the front door to be welcomed home by the stars of Extreme Makeover and Mariah Carey, they were surprised by a snowy white Christmas setting like no other. The bright white snow glistened off the lights and the falling snow could be seen from half a block away.

What is this eco friendly, evaporating snow? This new fake snow technology produces brilliant white foam like snow. AtlantaSpecialFX.com states the flake size can be adjusted from flurry size snowflakes up to blizzard sized flakes and they evaporate…no messy cleanup. According to Atlanta Special FX owner Michael Willett, “This new technology is affordable and can be utilized by a wide array of parties, productions and special winter events. We now make it much easier and more impressive than traditional, less effective snow effects.” Willett also went on to say, "In the current economy, businesses are searching for more customer oriented partnerships with affordable effects so they can continue entertaining the public. We pride ourselves on being such a company.”

Willett and his Georgia based, company are some of the first to embrace this new economy and new way of doing business. Atlanta special FX travels all across the nation as a pioneer for eco friendly event special effects and invites everyone to “Watch and see what we have next”. Charlie Brown, owner of CB Concrete Pumping of Pensacola, was witness to the snow special effect "I heard a company was coming to town to make it snow on the beach and I wanted to be a part of it. My company was first on the set to pump the concrete so I was amazed at how real the final setting was. Who doesn’t love snow?"
